IL Primo pizza and wings

Everytime I drove by IL Primo and saw the red and green, I thought to myself this must be a Mexican restaurant. After going inside however I found it to be a typical pizza joint. I ordered the hottest hot wings I could find and when I finally got them, they made my eyes burn. If you are a serious heat lover, these hot wings should be on your menu. They came back crunchy and tasty, but they were just immersed in sauce. Overall this was a nice hotwing tasting, but they didnt give me the wow flavor that I have come to enjoy.

Native New Yorker

Native New Yorker is located on Broadway road in Tempe. They have beer, food, and of course, Hot Wings. At this particular time I went with a buddy of mine who appreciates all things hot, and we were chatting with the waitress about the hottest hot wings available. We had heard a rumor about the "Flame Thrower" variety and didn't see them on the menu. The waitress said she didn't know anything about them, but I told her to order them anyhow.

Sure enough she comes back and said that it was on the computer system! About 10 minutes later we get our hot wings delivered to our table, ON FIRE! The blue flames danced around the hot wings for a few minues before they went out.

We chow down and I have to say, these are the hottest hot wings I have ever eaten! Not too crunchy and full of pepper, I only got 4 out of my 5 wings down. Thinking back, I must have been weak since I can eat a dozen of the hottest hot wings anywhere else.

Casey Moores

Casey Moores is Located around 29th street and Bell. I used to go there all the time for the best nachos, but I think that crown has since been taken by Rock Bottom Brewery. Casey's still has a good selection of Drafts, and they expanded a few years ago and added some pool tables. But who really cares about the atmosphere here, what we really want to know it, How are the hot wings?

The hot wings here are labled pretty standard, no fancy names. Just mild, medium and hot. Somewhat refreshing after crazy names like, "hiroshima, or flame thrower, or atomic, and then to be dissapointed by something more mild than an unsalted potato.

I ordered the hot hot wings of course. They came on a pizza tray, and with celery and ranch which seems to be typical for most places. The pizza tray was a nice presentation. I don't think I have ever had hot wings on a pizza tray before! The one downfall to the tray is that you are missing the sauce in the basket. Theres nothing extra if you want a little more sauce.

The hot wings themselves were tasty. They had a good crisp to them, they were flavorful, and they were still juicy. They weren't really too hot though, I'd label these a mild to medium variety. Overall though, I'd say these wings were good and they satisfied my craving for the good Ol' wing.

Wings of the West followup

Well there never was a reply to my sneaky email. Maybe they smelled the bait, maybe rsstarbird is an incompetent salesperson, who knows. Jesus knows.

Famous Sams

Famous Sams is around 59th avenue and Bell Road. It's pretty much like any other famous sams you have probably visited, so not saying much there. After looking over the menu and finding out that the appetizers were half off, I noticed they had hot wings.

The hot wings are pretty much what I expected. Standard hot wing flavor, nothing unusual. They were soggy as to be expected. All in all, they held me over but kept me wanting those wings from Sport Peppers on 16th street and Bell. Mmmmm.

Overall, it was a dissapointing evening, watching the Suns lose. Maybe next time Nash, oh wait you'll probably get traded.

Fox and Hound

Based in the Arrowhead part of town, the fox and the hound is a sports bar/restaurant. They have billiards, chess and checkers, and great vantage points. They also serve wings. These wings had some great crunch and a cracked pepper flavor instead of the typical "tabasco" seasoned type wings. One complaint I had was that the wings were too dry and I would recommend getting a side of sauce to splash on them. The menu had a huge selection of boneless wings, but I only tried the hot bone-in variety. They weren't very hot.

Sardellas

Sardellas pizza and wings is on 32nd Street and Greenway. After a craving for some serious wings, I decided to swing by on the way home. I ordered 20 hot wings, one step down from suicide. The wings come out pipin' hot and had a great crunch, but lacked spice. For a "hot" wing, these should have been a little warmer. The wings although crunchy, were a bit wet. The flavor was ok, but I've had better. All together I spent 10 bucks on the purchase; more than 20 hot wings should cost.

Barrows

One sunny Sunday afternoon we decided to grab some of that excellent Barrows pizza and noticed hotwings on the menu! After placing an order of 12 "hot" variety we chowed down. First off I must say that these wings have an excellent flavor and I would probably eat them again. However they lack in both crunch and heat. Overall I had a great time eating these wings and with a little red pepper on my pepperoni and wings made it a great meal.
